From Social Vulnerability to Resilience: What the Human Development Report 2014’s Outcomes Point Out.
A debate hosted by RIO+Centre will discuss the challenges for public policy raised by the 2014 Human Development Report
Following the recent launch of the 2014 Human Development Report, the World Centre for Sustainable Development (RIO+Centre) will host the debate, “From Social Vulnerability to Resilience: What the Human Development Report 2014’s Outcomes Point Out.” It will take place on Monday, 25 August at the Institute for Applied Economic Research (IPEA) in Rio de Janeiro city.
“Our debate will emphasize the importance of establishing efficient public policies to reduce social vulnerability and make low-income populations more resilient to climate change, water scarcity and more frequent global financial crises,” says RIO+Centre’s Director Rômulo Paes Sousa. Sousa will make comments on the presentation by George Molina, United Nations Development Programme Chief Economist of the Regional Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean.
